Minnesota State University Moorhead women’s basketball coach Karla Nelson has announced the signing of Kaycee Charette of Prescott, WI, Holly Riesselman of Cottage Grove and Katey Wrobel of Fairchild, WI.

Charette, 5-11, averaged 18.7 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.8 steals, 2.8 assists, and 2.0 block shots per game during her junior season at Prescott High School and reached both the 1,000-point career mark and the 500-rebound career plateau. A two-time Associated Press honorable mention All-State selection, she was named to the Middle Border All- Conference team three times.

A two-time Special Mention to the Eau Claire Leader-Telegram All-Northwest, Charette was saluted as one of the Top 50 Seniors by the Wisconsin Yearbook. She is a three-time Most Valuable Player and team captain at Prescott High.

Coach Karla Nelson on Kaycee:

“Kaycee is a very skilled and athletic basketball player. She has the ability to change the game with her defense. We are very fortunate to have someone with Kaycee’s ability join our basketball family. Kaycee brings needed size and athleticism to our perimeter. She is an outstanding student-athlete that comes from a very successful high school program.”

Riesselman, 6-2, averaged 3.1 points per game and 3.2 rebounds per game at Park High School as a junior backup to current University of Minnesota post player Jackie Voigt for two seasons. An honorable mention all-conference pick last year, she helped lead Park High to back-to-back Suburban East Conference Championships and a record of 47-8 during the past two seasons. She also lettered in track and volleyball at Park High.

Coach Karla Nelson on Holly:

“Holly comes from a very successful high school program. Holly gives us good size in the post and the ability to run the floor in transition. Holly is an exceptional student-athlete and we look for Holly to continue our tradition of good post play.”

Wrobel, 6-1, averaged 13 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks per game during her junior season at Osseo-Fairchild High School. An honorable mention Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All-State choice last winter, she was a two-time All-Cloverbelt Conference selection. She was twice named Eau Claire Leader-Telegram Player to Watch and helped lead Osseo-Fairchild to the 2007 Wisconsin State Tournament.

Wrobel sparked Osseo-Fairchild to a pair of Cloverbelt Conference titles. She begins her senior season with 842 career points. A three-year starter, she was voted team MVP last year.

Coach Karla Nelson on Katey:

“Katey is a very athletic post player that can play both with her back to the basket and can face up. Katey is an outstanding rebounder and will help continue our tradition of great rebounding post players. With the addition of Katey to our basketball family, we have added depth and athleticism to our post game.”
