Newberry College, ranked second in the NCAA Division II, opened in style at the 2009 NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals wrestling tournament on Saturday at Cedar Falls, IA with a 39-3 victory over Minnesota State University Moorhead. All-American Tyler Tubbs was the lone Dragon to post a victory with a 8-7 decision over Brandon Kelly at 165 pounds. MSU Moorhead whipped Carson-Newman 29-12 in the following consolation match, and Jarret Hall recorded his first fall for the Dragons at 174 pounds. MSUM fell to Mercyhurst 29-12 in the second round of consolation action on Saturday night.
