MOORHEAD, Minn. - The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons suffered a loss to the St. Cloud State Huskies on Saturday at Alex Nemzek Stadium in a game that honored the team's seniors.

Seniors Jon Swart, Philip Pryor, Enol Gilles, Harrison Dotson, Joe Johnson, Robert Wilhelm and Gary Richards were honored in front of over 500 fans at the game, as they stepped onto their home field for the last time in their Dragon careers.

The Dragons, despite being shut-out 41-0, had some major improvements, the biggest on the rush as the team had 124 yards on the day, more than the past three games combined. Gilles led the team with 105 yards including a long run of 18. He averaged 5.2 yards per carry. Brett McWilliams had 27 yards on seven carries.

The Huskies air game was too much for the Dragons to handle as SCSU's quarterbacks, Derek Stripling (9-for-14) and Brad Meade (4-for-7) both had two touchdowns. All four of those went to Fred Williams who tied an SCSU record for touchdown receptions in a game.

The Dragons defense was led by Jake Larsen who had 7.5 tackles on the day. Swart also made big contributions with two tackles for a total loss of 15 yards, one was a sack for a loss of 10 yards.

MSUM moves to 2-8 overall with a 1-8 NSIC record, while the Huskies continue to be second in the North Division of the league with a 6-4 overall and 4-2 conference record.

The final regular season game for the Dragons will be on Sat., Nov. 7 in Marshall, Minn. The team will face Southwest Minnesota State at 1 p.m.
