Guswelle Leads Dragons Over Blazers

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. - Junior Ann Guswelle led the Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons over the St. Benedict's Blazers on Saturday, 197-86, as she captured first place in three events.

Guswelle finished ahead of teammate Olivia Martin in the 200 yard freestyle race to begin individual action on Saturday, touching the finish line at 2:03.3. Martin took second in 2:05.24.

She also took the title in the 100 yard breaststroke and 200 yard individual medley in times of 1:07.11 and 2:18.65. Guswelle also led the Dragons relay teams as the 'A' squad finished first in both relays, the 400 yard medley and the 200 yard freestyle relay.

Lisa Black and Claire Caron also took home two first place finishes. Black topped the competition in the 50 yard backstroke and the 100 yard freestyle. She finished the 50 yard race in 28.69 and the longer in 55.28.

Caron finished first in the 100 yard butterfly in 1:02.07 and swam the 200 yard backstroke in 2:17.57.

Other top finishers for the Dragons included Jessica Doar in the 1650 yard freestyle (19:00.6), Kylie Potter in the 50 yard breatstroke (32.4), Jess Tauber in the 50 yard freestyle (25.38) and Kayla Koenig winning the 3-meter diving event (377.30 points).

The Dragons will get back in the pool on Nov. 13 as they travel across the street to go head-to-head with Concordia College at 6 p.m.
