ST. PAUL, Minn. - Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons freshman Laquonne Robinson has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Runner of the Week, announced Thursday by the league office.

Robinson, in his rookie debut, broke the 30-year school record in the 60-meter high hurdles as he finished in first place with a time of 8.13 seconds. The record was held by Randy Salzwedel who set the record in 1980 with a time of 8.20. Robinson's race time provisionally qualified him for the 2010 NCAA DII Indoor National Championships. Robinson also tallied a second place finish in the triple jump behind an unattached jumper and ahead of 14 other athletes. His final distance of 14.17 meters earned the silver finish.

The Dragons will resume competitions on Jan. 9 at the Northwest Open. The meet will be held at the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse in Minneapolis, Minn.
