Dragons Collaborate To Offer Fitness and Wellness Opportunities

MOORHEAD, Minn. - The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons have banded together to provide the campus and regional community the opportunity to improve everyday wellness and fitness with the Fit-N-Fire Dragon Training Group.

Based on the concept of creating a training atmosphere to provide motivation and education for leading a fit life, Dragons Athletics, the MSUM Wellness Center, and Dragons for Wellness have combined efforts to make a difference in our community.

The Fit-N-Fire Dragon Training Group is a comprehensive three month training program, built for the community around utilizing resources on the Minnesota State University Moorhead Campus.

"Wellness and fitness are important to our campus and community, " said Gloria Riopelle co-creator of Fit-N-Fire.  "This is a great opportunity for our campus to use its resources to help our community reach their health and fitness potential."

"This training group will have all access to our state-of-the-art MSUM Wellness Center and its programming along with the pool on campus," commented Marissa Parmer co-creator of Fit-N-Fire.  "The only thing that tops the faciilities are the instructors, trainers and motivators that have pulled together to provide this opportunity."

Other benefits included are:
* 3 month all-access membership to the MSUM Wellness Center
* Eight education sessions on health, fitness and wellness
* A one-on-one training consultation
* Walk/Run Plan and entry into the Dragon Fire 5/10K Run Walk
* Access to the Fit-N-Fire Facebook accountability group
* Friday noon group walks in the MSUM Wellness Center
* Saturday group run/walks at locations to be determined
* Access to open and lap swims in the Alex Nemzek Pool

Throughout the three months, eight educational sessions on health, fitness and wellness will be offered by experts in the field.  This includes a feature presentation by Certified Wellness Coach Ann Dolence called "Coaching Yourself to a Lifetime of Wellness." Other educational sessions include topics such as injury prevention, triathalon training, nutrition and diet, strength training, massage technique and pilates/yoga instruction.

Membership in Fit-N-Fire is all-inclusive from start to finish. Cost of membership in the Fit-N-Fire is $120 for MSUM Faculty, Staff and Alumni.  Community members 18 and older can join for $180.  Current MSUM students will be charged $40.  For more information call Gloria Riopelle at 218-477-5824 or contact via email at riopelg@mnstate.edu
