Doug Peters, Athletic Director at Minnesota State University Moorhead, announced that NaDean Schroeder has joined the Dragon's athletics staff as the Assistant Athletic Director for Media and Public Relations.

“Words can't express how excited I am to add NaDean to the Dragon family,” said Peters.  “The all around experience she brings to the table fits directly into our vision of having one of the premier athletic departments at the NCAA DII level.”

A native of Maple Lake, Minn., Schroeder was selected from a pool of over 50 applicants in a nationwide search. She comes to the Dragons from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla.

While at Embry-Riddle Schroeder served as the Assistant Director of Sports Information as well as providing media relations services for The Sun Conference. She also served as a member of the Embry-Riddle Athletics Hall of Fame research and planning committee, and as an advisor to a sorority at ERAU.

This past year she was a part of the team that was honored with the Gary Spitler Award for Excellence in Publications, an award given to the NAIA sports information department that accumulates the most total points among all of the NAIASida's publication contests.

Schroeder was individually honored with the 2009 Walt McAlexander Award which honors the best baseball media guide in the NAIA, finished second among all volleyball media guides, and received top honors for the men's basketball media guide cover in 2009 and cross country cover in 2008.

Prior to ERAU, Schroeder served as a graduate assistant at NSIC foe, St. Cloud State University.

“I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with Doug and the great staff at MSUM, not to mention, to work in the best conference in NCAA DII,” Schroeder said. “It has always been a priority of mine to work in at a school with great traditions and leadership, and after visiting the Dragon's athletic department I knew that I would be honored to promote MSUM athletics.”

Schroeder earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of North Dakota and a Master's of Science in Sports Management from St. Cloud State University.

Schroeder replaces Dragon legend Larry Scott, who retired this past summer after holding the title of Sports Information Director for the past forty years.  Scott will be honored at the “Celebration of Forty Fabulous Years with Dragon Athletics” during this year's homecoming activities on September 26th.  More information can be found at www.dragonhomecoming.com.
