STEVEN'S POINT, Wisc. - The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons swimming and diving team are currently in seventh place after the first day of competition at the University of Wisconsin-Steven's Point Invitational, with a total of 164 points, just 20 events into the meet. The Dragons have opted out of the second day of the competition due to the forecast of inclement weather in northern Minnesota.
Senior Ann Gusewele leads the Dragons as she has posted two finishes for points (among the top eight), as she took a seventh place finish in the 200-yard individual medley anda second place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke. She finished the medley in a time of 2:18.78 while finishing the breaststoke two second slower than her fastest time posted this season, with a 2:28.43 mark.
Senior Diver
Kayla Koenig also put up some big points for the Dragons as she took second place in the three-meter diving event. She scored 402.95 points, falling 19 points short of the first place finisher from Northern Michigan.
Claire Caron had a third place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:14.62 while
Lisa Black rounded out the top-eight finishes with a sixth place race in the 100-yard backstroke. She finished in 1:01.96.
