TAMPA, Fla. - The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons swimming team wrapped up their 2010 trip to Florida by competing at the Tampa Relays, hosted by the University of Tampa on Jan. 6.
The Dragons took second place in five races and third in four relays. The second place finishes included the 800-yard freestyle, 300-yard breaststroke, 400-yard medley, 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle scramble.
In the 800-yard freestyle, the Dragons were led off by Jessica Doar, followed by Olivia Martin and Jessy Belden and anchored by Jess Tauber. The four finished the relay in 8:39.68.
Dragons' top swimmer, Ann Gusewelle led the team in the 300-yard breaststroke, followed by Cassie Jensen and Kelsey Meyer to finish in 3:41.20.
Justine Turk led Gusewelle, Claire Caron and Karena King to a second place finish in the 400-yard medley, where the group finished in 4:26.34.
Tauber, Gusewelle, King and Martin were four second shy of Tampa in the 200-free to finish second in a time of 1:50.71.
Heather Harris, Martin and Doar finished the 500-yard freestyle relay in a time of 5:59.46.
The Dragons will host Minnesota-Morris on Jan. 15 at 6 p.m. to start the 2010 home season. Live updated results will be available throughout the meet, please check
