MOORHEAD, Minn. - The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons started a four game home stand to wrap up the regular season with the Wildcats of Wayne State (N.E.). Two quick goals in the onset of each half led the Wildcats to a 2-0 win over the Dragons
The Wildcats got the first two shots on goal in the contest, the first of which was stopped by senior goalkeeper
Alison Wanner. Wanner had no chance on the second as Tiffani Kellerman took a feed from leading Wildcat's scorer Megan Diaz and put the Wildcats up 1-0 at the 17:19 mark. The two teams would turn on the defensive pressure and head into the half by the same score.
The Wildcats jumped right back into the offensive zone and put three straight shots on Wanner. The Dragons' goalkeeper stopped the first two but did not get enough of the third from Liz Isrealsen to deflect it from harm and the Dragons found themselves down 2-0 at the 47:22 mark of the game. The two teams would play to the same final as the Wildcats left Moorhead victors of a 2-0 game.
The Dragons fall to 1-12-1 on the season (1-8-1 NSIC) while the Wildcats improve to 6-5-4 on the year (2-4-4 NSIC). The Dragons look to bounce back when they face the Augustana Vikings tomorrow at Nemzek Soccer Field with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
