New Face, Familiar Style In New Dragons Backfield
Eboni LW
Bookmark and Share
MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons have a decision to make on next years starting running back after senior Enol Gillies finished his football career last season. A familiar style back will be part of the mix in Eboni Lucious-West.

At 5-foot 9-inches and 205 pounds, Lucious-West does not intimidate many by his size, but it’s his speed and elusiveness that gives opposing defenses headaches. Eboni came to the Dragons from the College of Dupage along with quarterback Kevin Koch.

While at COD, Lucious-West averaged 4.2 yards per carry in seven games. Given his size and ability, Lucious-West knows his game plan before he steps on the field.

“I just run away from people,” Lucious-West said. “I’m pretty explosive and also pretty shifty so that makes me hard to catch.”

What enticed Eboni to come to the Dragons was not only the chance to keep playing with his teammate, but also the chance to make a difference as much as possible.

“It’s going to be like old times,” Eboni said about the chance to play with Koch again. “I’m not the type of guy who says ‘I’m going to be the starter’, I just got to let things happen. I want to be the difference maker on this team.”

Lucious-West physically set his goals at getting faster and more explosive and set his mental goals on the team’s task at hand.

“I want to become a smarter player,” Lucious-West said. “If I become more knowledgeable about our opponents that’s just going to give us a better chance at winning.”

The Dragons will look to the former Sica South All-Conference selection from Country Club Hills, Ill., to become a big time contributor on this year’s squad. Eboni hopes that with his offseason workouts he will become a hard man to bring down, if his opponents can catch him.
