MANKATO, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons softball team suffered two conference losses on Sunday as they dropped two games to the Minnesota State Mankato Mavericks on the road.
In game one, the Dragons had a 3-2 lead going into the bottom of the third before the Mavericks tallied five runs to move their lead to two.
MSUM tied the game in the top of the fourth inning as they posted two runs on a home run over the left field fence by
Betsy Dickson.
The Mavericks matched the Dragons runs in the fourth and posted five more in the fifth to end game one with a win, 14-5.
Mankato posted eight runs in the first two innings of game two to run away with the win, 12-2.
The Draongs posted two runs, the first came in the third inning where a string of singles pushed Amanda Hoefer across the plate.
Desi DeMarco hit her third home run of the season in the fifth inning to post MSUM's second run.
MSU Moorhead will travel to Marshall, Minn., to face off against Southwest Minnesota State on Monday. The doubleheader will begin at 12 p.m. with the second game scheduled for 2 p.m.
