CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Junior Anthony Enyi finished ninth on Thursday afternoon at the NCAA DII Outdoor Track and Field National Championships as he just missed All-American status in the hammer throw. Rainy weather conditions pushed back Friday's events with a new schedule lined up for Saturday.
Enyi's toss of 58.08 meters (190' 7") came on his third throw and was eight-one hundredths off his season-best throw of 58.88 meters. Enyi was one place away from becoming an All-American at the Indoor National Championships in March, when he placed ninth in the weight throw. The victor in the hammer throw was Ryan Loughney of Ashland (N.C.) who had a toss of 66.6 meters.
Two other Dragons competed on Thursday, with Anna VanWechel and Kendra Mooberry taking the stage in their respective preliminary events. They both did not advance to the finals rounds.
On Saturday, Laquone Robinson will compete in the 110-meter hurdles finals set for 6:40 p.m. The Dragons men's 4x400 relay team will round out all events, with their race scheduled for 9:36 p.m.
