MOORHEAD, Minn. – Head Coach Joel Beard announced that seniors
Jake Larsen and
Brandon Larson, and juniors
Kevin Koch and
Zack Tourangeau will lead the Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragon football team as captains for the 2010 season.
“We are excited about the captains for the 2010 season,” Beard said. “They bring a great deal of passion, determination and commitment to Dragon football. They have worked hard all summer and are poised for a great season.”
Larsen led the Dragons defensive efforts last season as he was named the team's Most Valuable Player with 65.5 tackles including 39 solo tackles. He also had 2.5 tackles for a loss of three yards and caused two fumbles.
Larson, a major contributor since his freshman season, was third on the team in tackles with 41.0 in 2009, including two for a loss of eight yards. Larson had one interception and forced one fumble.
Koch transferred to MSUM at the beginning of the spring semester in 2010, where he won the starting quarterback position during spring camp.
Tourangeau will anchor the Dragons offensive line for the third straight year as an offensive tackle. He started every game in his collegiate career, including all 11 games as a true freshman in 2008.
The Dragons will check in on campus on August 4 and will officially begin practice on Aug. 5.
