MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Three members of the Minnesota State University Moorhead track and field teams will compete at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which are slated to begin Thursday and continue through Saturday in Pueblo, Colo.

Dragon seniors Derek Bredy, Clayton Foster and Heather Schultz all earned trips to the national meet.

Bredy, a 16-time conference champion (including relays) and a 29-time All-NSIC honoree, will compete at the nationals in three events. He qualified for the long jump with a mark of 24-7 3/4, which is a school record attained in winning the NSIC championship last Friday.  He is ranked 12th in that event, which will be held at 4:30 p.m. Central time on Thursday.  Later in day on Thursday, Bredy will run in the prelims of the 400-meter dash at 6:55 p.m. CT. He is ranked 18th in the event at 47.28.   Bredy is also ranked 20th in the triple jump (48-11 1/2) and will compete in that event at 6:15 p.m. CT on Saturday.

Foster, a six-time NSIC champion (including relays) is headed to a national meet for the third time in his Dragon career as he will compete in the men's 1,500 meters. His seed time is 3:50.83, which ranks him 19th. That prelims of the event will be held at 6:25 p.m. CT on Thursday.

Schultz qualified in the women's shot put with a seed mark of 13.99 (45-10 3/4), which ranks her 21st in the field heading into the competition, which will be held at 4:30 p.m. CT on Saturday. It is the second time in her Dragon career that Schultz has qualified for a national meet; the Dent, Minn., native qualified for the national indoor meet in March.
