MOORHEAD, Minn. - Minnesota State University Moorhead hosted the the fifth annual Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo Chamber of Commerce Corporate Cup Thursday afternoon with over 50 teams from the community competing against each other in physical competitions like kickball, rock climbing, cycling and the crowd favorite, tug-of-war.
"This event is an awesome way for MSUM to open it's doors to the community and show a lot of people a good time," said Corporate Cup Committee member and MSUM Assistant Athletics Director Jon Wepking. "People really get into this and it's fun to watch everyone battle, trash talk and then cheer each other on at the end of the day."
This marks the third straight year the event has taken place at Nemzek Fieldhouse. Between the MSUM Wellness Center and Nemzek Hall, over 750 participants took the challenge to win the Corporate Cup in two divisions: Recreational and Competitive. The games included those mentioned as well as basketball, volleyball, obstacle course, and minute to win it style games for teams and just for CEOs. Teams also received bonus points for early registration, creative shirts, volunteers and for having participants over the age of 40.
"It's a great way for businesses in the community to interact with each other on a different level," said FMWF Chamber Professional Development Manager Camille Weber. "It's great to see businesses get out of their normal routines and participate in some friendly competition, as well as bond with their teammates and other members of the community."
Prizes are also awarded for the most creative team shirts, team spirit award, cycling champions, rock climbing champions, and the lowest point scorers of the event wins the Rock Solid, Rock Bottom Award.
Corporate Cup Committee Chairman Jamie Fay said, "I just thank all the hard work of the committee, volunteers and sponsors for helping us make this possible."
The overall winner of the event in the recreational devision was Sanford Health and taking home the competitive division title was Appareo. Congratulations to them and all the teams that competed.
