BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- Minnesota State University Moorhead freshman Jessamy Jones has been named to the All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference second team in women's tennis, the league announced on Thursday.

Jones is the first Dragon to earn All-NSIC honors in singles play since Kayla Huether did so in 2012. Jones is the first Dragon in Head Coach Oliver Summers' two-year tenure to be selected All-NSIC.

A native of East Grand Forks, N.D., Jones was the No. 1 singles player all season for MSUM. She was 8-8 overall but 6-5 in conference matches, which was tied for sixth-best among the players who  played in the top singles spot. She won three straight singles matches to close the regular season and was tied at a set apiece with St. Cloud State's Katie Kotschevar in the NSIC tournament match.

Jones also helped the Dragons to their first conference tournament berth since 2012.
