ALLENDALE, Minn. – Minnesota State University Moorhead junior Molly Montonye earned All-American honors in the 1,500-meter run at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday in Allendale, Mich. Montonye picked up the third All-American honor of her Dragon track and field career with the fifth-place finish in the event.

Montonye earned All-American honors in impressive fashion, running a personal-best time of 4:23.82 to finish in fifth, just .36 seconds away from fourth. The time was more than four seconds faster than her previous personal-best of 4:26.87 that was ran at last year's outdoor championships.

It is the second-best finish at the national meet for Montonye, who was fourth in the 1,500 outdoors a year ago.

The Graceville, Minn., native is a three-time All-American in track and field. She earned honors in the 1,500 meters outdoors in 2014 and in the mile indoors in 2015. Montonye has earned four All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference honors in track and field and three All-NSIC honors in cross country.

Redshirt freshman Brian Huber competed in the high jump but did not clear the opening height of 6-6 and was eliminated. The Staples, Minn., native had a big freshman year, setting the school record in the outdoor long jump and winning the long jump at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Indoor Championships in February.
