SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Senior
Cody Christ finished second overall to lead the Minnesota State University Moorhead men's cross country team to a second-place finish at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships on Saturday at Yankton Trails Park in Sioux Falls, S.D. The MSUM women, led by a top-five finish from senior
Molly Montonye, finished in a tie for third place with Winona State (after further review of the NSIC handbook).

Five Dragon men earned All-NSIC honors while three Dragon women accomplished the feat.
"Both teams ran exceptional races," MSUM cross country coach
Ryan Milner said. "Our men's team, one through seven, ran lifetime PRs. The women were probably the same for all of the returners."
The Dragon men finished with 36 points, 18 points behind winner Augustana.
Christ finished the 8K race in 24:22.52, less than 12 seconds behind winner Glen Ellington of Augustana. With the first-team All-NSIC honors, Christ now has been all-conference twice in his career.
Sophomore
Josh Young had an excellent showing, placing fifth in 24:34.21 to earn All-NSIC first-team honors for a second straight year. He was the NSIC Newcomer of the Year in 2015.
Three Dragon men were All-NSIC second-team honorees with top 20 finishes. Senior
Brady Speicher was 11th in 24:57.44, freshman Nadif Yusuf was 14th in 25:09.63 and junior
Jay Biwer was 15th in 25:10.61.
Sophomore
Joshua Ernst was 37th in 25:44.37 and freshman
Logan Spooner was 40th in 25:52.83 to give MSUM seven runners in the top 40.
The MSUM women finished tied with Winona State for third. NSIC handbook rules stat that ties outside of first place are not broken by tiebreaker. Three Dragon women earned All-NSIC honors, led by Montonye, who earned first-team accolades by finishing fifth in 20:25.94.
Senior
MaKenzie Smith is All-NSIC for the third time in her career after playing 12th at 21:21.34 to garner second-team honors. Sophomore
Marissa Carlson had a solid run to place 16th in 21:37.44 to earn her All-NSIC second team honors.
The next finisher for MSUM was freshman
Kathryn Sistrunk who was 36th in 22:27.62. Senior
Mindy Kraft was 53rd in 22:56.64 while freshman
Alicia Swenson was 82nd in 23:55.95. Freshman
Jenna Wegscheid was 84th in 24:00.09.
MSUM now turns its attention to preparing for the Central Region meet, which will be held on Nov. 5 in Sioux Falls at the same venue.
Molly Montonye recorded a top five finish on Saturday at the NSIC Championships.
