Brian Huber were each double winners to lead the Minnesota State University Moorhead men's track and field team at the Thundering Herd Classic on Saturday in Fargo, N.D. Junior
Alissa Mears won the 800 to lead the Dragon women.
No team scores were kept.
Alissa Mears, front, won the 800 meters on Saturday.Speicher had a huge day. He won the mile with a school record of 4:07.93, a time that is third-best in Division II this season when adjusted for track size. It is also fastest in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference this season. Speicher also captured the 800 with a time of 1:56.13, also fastest in the conference this season.
Huber continued his strong indoor season, claiming the high jump with a season-best of 6-8 3/4, which is tied for fifth-best in the NSIC this season. Huber also won the long jump with an effort of 23-11 1/2.
On the women's side,
Alissa Mears won the 800 in 2:17.09, which was a season-best. That time was less than two seconds away from an NCAA provisional time and is fifth-best in the NSIC this season.
The Dragon men had several other good finishes on the day. Freshman
Kevin Norville was second in the triple jump in 46-9 (fifth in NSIC this season) with junior
Devin Strack was fourth in 42-11 3/4. Senior
Kenny Andri was second in the 400-meter dash in 49.45 with senior
Charles Tiedman fourth in 50.88.
Senior
Tyler Hennen was fourth in the mile in 4:26.29, which is a personal-best. Junior
Adam Hanson was fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.69 while junior
Brandon Selbig was fourth in the 3,000-meter run in 9:14.20.
Senior
Molly Montonye posted a season-best of 4:57.34 in the mile to place second. That is the third-fastest time in the NSIC this season. Junior
Bailey Reiner was second in the long jump in 17-5 1/2.
Senior
Emily Mammenga was fourth in the mile with a season-best of 5:08.76. Freshman
Marissa Carlson was fourth in the 800 in 2:20.42. Freshman
Alicia Swenson was fourth in the 3,000-meter run in 11:12.03.
Katrina Mellegard was seventh in the weight throw with a season best of 55-3.
Katie Holzheimer was eighth in the 200 with a season-best 26.70 time.
The Dragons will send three individuals –
Caroline Jansen,
Mitchell Ruebke and
Andrew Schonnesen – to the NSIC Multi-Event meet on Sunday and Monday in Mankato, Minn.
MSUM's full teams are scheduled to compete at the South Dakota State Last Chance and the Bemidji State Twilight on Feb. 19.
