Hammer Throw Results

Andrew Werk recorded an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the hammer toss to lead the Minnesota State University Moorhead track and field teams at the opening day of the Lyle Hokanson Invitational on Friday in Fargo, N.D. The event is being hosted by North Dakota State.
The men's and women's hammer throw were held on Friday, with a large majority of the events taking place on Saturday at NDSU.
Werk finished sixth out of 32 competitors in the hammer throw with a toss of 176-3, just over the NCAA provisional standard of 175-10. Werk finished ahead of several competitors from Division I programs South Dakota State and North Dakota.
Junior
Katrina Mellegard was the top MSUM finisher in the women's hammer throw, taking 11th out of 53 competitors at 160-8.
Saturday's competition begins at 11 a.m. with the javelin throw. Other field events begin at 1 p.m. with the running events beginning at 1:45 p.m. at NDSU.
