MANKATO, Minn. — Three members of the Minnesota State University Moorhead track and field teams competed at the first day of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Multi-Events on Sunday in Mankato, Minn.
Sophomore
Caroline Jansen is competing in the women's heptathlon and is fifth after four events at 2,826 points. She took first in the 200 (26.15), fourth in the shot put (34-5), was fifth in the 100-meter hurdles (14.95) and tied for fifth in the high jump (4-11 1/2). The long jump, javelin and 800-meter run will take place on Monday.
Two Dragons — freshman
Andrew Schonnesen and junior
Mitchell Ruebke — are competing in the men's decathlon. Schonnesen is sixth in the decathlon at 3,336 points with five events remaining. He was second in the long jump (21-11 1/2), third in the 400 (51.10), eighth in the high jump (5-11 1/2), ninth in the 100 (11.57) and 17th in the shot put (28-10 1/2). Ruebke has 2,783 points after the first day of competition.
The multi-event portion wraps up on Monday in Mankato.
