Huber, who was All-American indoors in the long jump, recorded a jump of 25-0 1/2 to finish in fifth. He jumped a 22-11 3/4 on his first attempt, and followed with a 24-0 1/4 in his second. His third attempt proved to be his best in 25-0 1/2 (7.63 meters).
The 25-0 1/2 by Huber was just 1/4 inch away from a personal-best and the outdoor school record of 25-0 3/4 he set at the Masanz Classic in May 2015.
Indoors, Huber was All-American in the long jump with a sixth-place finish in March. He has now competed at three national meets in his Dragon career.
Speicher had a strong showing in the 1,500-meter prelims, recording the fifth-fastest time of 3:50.15, which included leading much of the race. Marc Antoine-Rouleau won the second heat, which Speicher competed in, in 3:49.32 in a closely-contested race.
Speicher will compete in the 1,500 finals at 4:35 p.m. Central time on Saturday. The top eight in each event earn All-American.
