MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead track and field teams won 12 events at the Concordia Cobber Duals held Saturday at the Olson Forum on the Concordia campus. The MSUM women went 8-1 in duals while the men went 7-2.

The MSUM women finished 8-1 on the day, with wins over Northern, Jamestown, Dickinson State, Mary, Minnesota Morris, Minot State, Valley City State and Bemidji State. The lone loss was a two-point dual defeat to Concordia.
MSUM went 7-2 on the day, with wins over Minot State, Mary, Jamestown, Dickinson State, Valley City State, North Dakota State and Minnesota Morris. The Dragons lost to Concordia by one point while falling to Northern State by three.
Senior
Alissa Mears and freshman
Kathryn Sistrunk each won two events for the Dragon women while junior
Brian Huber won two events for the men.
Sistrunk won the 3,000-meter run in 10:44.64, which is ninth-best in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference this season, and also won the mile in 5:25.18.
Sophomore
Marissa Carlson won the 1,000-meter run in 3:04.23, which is sixth-best in the NSIC this season.
Mears won the 200-meter dash in 26.88 with senior
Katie Holzheimer second in 27.18. Mears also won the 400 in 58.97.
Senior
Katrina Mellegard won the weight throw in 54-9 1/2 with
Emily Waletzko second in 51-11 and
Mary-Bianca Fuller third in 50-4. Fuller was second in the shot put at 41-0 1/2 with
Emily Waletzko was third at 40-7 3/4.
Jenna Ellertson was second in the pole vault at 9-8 1/2 while
Kiarah Johnson was third in the 60-meter dash in 7.92.
For the men, Huber won a pair of sprint events. He won the 60-meter dash in 7.04, tying a season-best, and claimed the 200-meter dash in 22.29, which is the third-best time in the NSIC this season.
Sophomore
Josh Young was victorious in the 1,000-meter run in 2:28.53 which is the best in the NSIC this season.
Freshman
Nadir Yusuf won the mile in 4:27.10, ninth-best in the NSIC, while freshman
Nick Marshall was third in 4:34.31. Freshman
Zach Sweep won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.55
MSUM won the distance medley in 11:09.18 with Yusuf, Ruebke, Young and Marshall teaming up for that win.
Sophomore Carlson was second in the 400 in 52.00 while junior
Jay Biwer was second in the 3,000-meter run in 9:06.49. Sophomore
Jonas Matzen was second in the high jump at 6-0.
MSUM will compete at the Bison Open on Friday and Saturday in Fargo, N.D.
Jansen 4th at Mankato
Junior
Caroline Jansen was fourth in the women's indoor pentathlon with 3,144 points at the Minnesota State Open and Multi in Mankato, Minn.
Jansen's total is sixth-best in the NSIC this season.
