MOORHEAD, Minn. — A pair of Dragon basketball players, sophomore forward
Megan Hintz and sophomore guard
Evan Hines, have been named the Minnesota State University Moorhead/Courtyard by Marriott Athletes of the Week for the week of Nov. 13-19.
Hintz got off to a strong start offensively for the No. 19 Dragon women, who split a pair of nonconference games at home. She had a career-high 20 points, hitting 10-of-12 free throws, in the Dragons' 66-53 loss to No. 21 Michigan Tech on Thursday. She added five rebounds. Hintz had eight points in 16 minutes in the 74-63 win over Northern Michigan on Sunday. Hintz averaged 14.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game for the week and shot 85.7 percent (12-of-14) from the foul line.
Hines averaged 20.0 points and 12.0 rebounds in a pair of Dragon men's wins. He shot 66.7 percent from the field for the week, including 53.3 percent (8-of-15) from three-point range. He recorded the first two double-doubles of his career last week. He had 18 points and a career-high 14 rebounds in an 84-69 win over Northern Michigan on Friday and then followed by a 22-point, 10-rebound performance in an overtime win over Michigan Tech on Saturday.
