BSU Twilight Results
BEMIDJI, Minn. – Senior
Katrina Mellegard set a new school record in the weight throw to lead the Minnesota State University Moorhead track and field teams at the Bemidji State Twilight on Friday in Bemidji, Minn. The Dragons finished with 19 wins on the day.
Mellegard uncorked a school record in the weight throw at 63-2, which is the second-best toss in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate this season and ninth-best in the nation. That is also an NCAA provisional qualifying effort.
Senior
Alissa Mears ran a winning time of 2:12.08 (adjusted for track size) in the 800-meter run which is an NCAA provisional qualifying time. She is ranked third in the NSIC in that event and 16th in the nation.
Marissa Carlson was second in the 800 in 2:20.74.
Junior
Caroline Jansen won three events on the day. She claimed the 60-meter hurdles in 9.14, the triple jump in 38-4 3/4 and added a win in the long jump in 17-11 1/2.
Sophomore
Kiarah Johnson won the 60-meter dash in 7.83 with Jansen second in 7.95. Johnson also won the 200 in 26.57 with senior
Katie Holzheimer second in 27.02.
Sophomore
Alicia Swenson won the mile in 5:41.18 while sophomore
Samantha Swenson won the 3,000-meter run in 11:26.47.
Freshman
Summer Storm won the 400-meter dash in 59.81 while junior
Mary-Bianca Fuller won the shot put in 43-5 with sophomore
Emily Waletzko second in 41-11 1/2. Freshman
Jenna Ellertson won the pole vault in 9-10.
The Dragon men won eight events.
Freshman
Tobias Boegel won the 60-meter dash in 7.34 and was second in the 200 in 23.72
Sophomore
Evan Carlson won the 400-meter dash in 51.14.
Sophomore
Miguel Perez won the 600 in 1:29.84 while freshman
Zach Sweep won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.37.
Freshman
Tyler Berby won the triple jump at 41-2 1/4. Freshman
Cody Gagner won 800 in 2:00.49. Sophomore
Logan Thiel won the pole vault in 14-0. Freshman
Jerry Raye won the long jump in 20-11 1/4.
MSUM will compete at the NSIC Indoor Championships on Feb. 24-25 in Mankato, Minn.
