FARGO, N.D. — Junior
Josh Young and senior
Alissa Mears each recorded NCAA provisional qualifying times in their events to lead the Minnesota State University Moorhead track and field teams at the Thundering Herd Classic hosted by North Dakota State on Friday.

Young finished second in the men's mile with a time of 4:10.03, which, when adjusted for track size, is 4:06.88, which is a provisional qualifying time and fastest time in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
Mears was second in the women's 800-meter run in the 2:15.56, which adjusted for track size, is 2:14.02 and an NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
Junior
Brian Huber won the 200-meter dash in 22.22, which is the second-best in the NSIC this season. Freshman
Zach Sweep won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.33 which is third-fastest in the NSIC this season.
Senior
Devin Strack was second in the triple jump at 45-8 1/2, just a half-inch away from his season-best.
Sophomore
Jonas Matzen was fifth in the long jump at 21-4 1/4 and sixth in the high jump at 6-4 3/4.
For the Dragon women, sophomore
Kiarah Johnson was second in the 60-meter dash at 7.82 and fourth in the 200 at 26.77.
Junior
Caroline Jansen was second in the long jump at 18-1 1/2 and fourth in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.11.
Senior
Katrina Mellegard fired a toss of 59-3 to place sixth in the weight throw.
Next weekend, MSUM will compete at South Dakota State on Friday and Saturday. The NSIC Multi-Events will also be held on Feb. 12-13 in Mankato, Minn.
