Meet Results
BISMARCK, N.D. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead track and field teams captured four wins at the Al Bortke Open in Bismarck, N.D., on Saturday. The Dragon women finished second at the meet while the men were third.
The Dragon women were led by a trio of event winners: senior
Alissa Mears in the 400 meter run (57.97) junior
Caroline Jansen in the long jump (18-06.5) and freshman
Summer Storm in the 400 meter hurdles (1:08.60).

The MSUM men won the 800-meter run in a photo finish. Senior
Brady Speicher and junior
Josh Young, both All-Americans, crossed the finish line of the 800 meter in an apparent tie of 1:53.63. Using the Hy-Tek photo results, race officials determined that Speicher won with the lean by a few-thousandths of a second. Their teammate freshman
Cody Gagner was third in 1:55.15.

Ryan Kalinowski to finish second in the 4X400 meter relay in a time of 3:29.39.
Also on the track, junior
Brian Huber finished second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.62 seconds. Freshman
Zach Sweep was third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.17 seconds. In the 3,000 meter race freshman duo
Nadir Yusuf and
Nick Marshall placed second (8:54.89) and fourth (9:10.29), respectively.
In the field events, freshman
Logan Thiel was second in the pole vault with a vault of 13-07.25, Freshman
Brady Butcher was seventh in the shot put with a throw of 40-05 and senior
Peter Bateman was seventh in the hammer throw with a toss of 141 feet.
The women continued to have an impressive day both on the field and on the track. Junior
Bailey Reiner took second in the long jump behind teammate Jansen with a leap of 18-05.00. Reiner also led her teammates sophomore Ki'Arah Johnson, Caroline Jenson, and senior
Katie Holzheimer in the 4X100 relay to second place finish in a time of 49.48 seconds.
Johnson had a busy day also placing fourth in 100 meter dash in 11.96 seconds and fourth in the 200 meter dash in 25.85 seconds. Freshman
Kathryn Sistrunk took second in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 10:51.19. Wrapping up the day in the field events was freshman
Nicole Kurtti who placed second in the high jump clearing 5-00.25.
The Dragons will be sending a contingent of athletes to compete in California at the Mt. Sac Relays, the Long Beach Invitational, and the Azusa Pacific-Bryan Clay Invite. Senior
Cody Christ will start the busy weekend Thursday night racing the 10,000-meter run at Mount SAC. The full squad will return to action at the Lyle Hokanson Classic hosted by the North Dakota State University in two weeks' time.
