MOORHEAD, Minn. — Led by two wins from junior
Breah Anderson, the Minnesota State University Moorhead swimming and diving team captured the title at the Dragon Invite, which concluded on Saturday at the Hulbert Aquatic Center in West Fargo, N.D.
MSUM finished with 2,156 points with Mary taking second at 1,859. The Dragons have won the event all 16 years it has existed.
"We were happy with our swimmers and divers this weekend," MSUM head coach Charlie King said. "It was great to see our athletes compete with such great heart and support one another. I believe we found a new level of confidence."
Anderson won the 50 free in 24.51 with senior
Linnea Johnson second at 25.68 and freshman
Lexie Bray third in 25.77. Anderson added a second win in the 100 free in 53.81 with Johnson taking second in 56.51 and junior
Haley Roed taking third in 56.88.
Freshman
Katelin Winter won the 200 free in 1:59.48 with senior
Linnea Johnson taking second at 2:00.31. Winter was second in the 500 free at 5:26.00 and second in the 50 fly in 27.78. Winter was third in the 100 IM in 2:18.36.
Senior
Taylor Beynon won the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.58 with
Katie Kaminski taking third in 1:12.75. Beynon added a runner-up finish in the 200 IM (2:16.41) and the 100 IM (1:02.74).
Junior
Leticia Rodovalho won the 200 fly in 2:15.57 with senior
Sami DuVal second at 2:24.37.
Senior
Amber Westereng won the 3-meter diving with a score of 374.10. Sophomore
Ali Grinde was second in 331.35.
MSUM's 400 free relay, consisting of Johnson, freshman
MaKenna Kuhn, Roed and Anderson, won in 3:41.46.
Bray was second in the 100 back in 1:01.80 with
Kate MacGregor taking third at 1:02.17.
Grace Moffat was second in the 1,000 free at 11:11.95 while
Natalie Huntley was third in 11:28.30. Moffat was third in the 50 butterfly in 28.21.
MacGregor was second in the 50 back in 29.48.
Alex King was second in the 50 breaststroke in 33.02 with
Katie Kaminski taking third at 34.24.
MSUM is on the road next Saturday against Minnesota State, Mankato. The dual begins at 1 p.m. in Mankato, Minn.
