SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Senior
Amber Westereng earned a runner-up finished in 3-meter diving to highlight the day for the Minnesota State University Moorhead women's swimming and diving team at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships, which concluded Saturday at the Midco Aquatic Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. Senior
Taylor Beynon set a new school record in the 200 breaststroke on the day as well.
MSUM finished in sixth with 413.5 points. St. Cloud State won the team title.
"This was a great week for Dragons swimming and diving," MSUM head coach Charlie King said. "We competed with the heart of champions. The coaching staff couldn't be more proud of how we competed. Our swimmers and divers worked hard all season and it was great to see their hard work pay off."
Westereng finished second in the 3-meter diving with a score of 418.35 to pick up All-NSIC honors in that event. She was fourth in the 1-meter diving earlier this week. Westereng has earned a trip to the NCAA pre-qualifying diving competition which is set for March 13.
Beynon set a school record and recorded a B cut time by swimming a 2:19.75 in the 200 breaststroke, placing her third. The finish gave Beynon her second All-NSIC honor of the week. In conference meets in her career Beynon picked up eight All-NSIC honors, including one on Friday in the 100 breaststroke.
Junior
Breah Anderson placed eighth in the 100 free in 52.57. Senior
Linnea Johnson was 14th in 53.14. Anderson is currently ranked ninth in the nation in the 50 free (23.14).
MSUM's 400 free relay was sixth in 3:31.80. That consisted of Anderson, Johnson, junior
Haley Roed and freshman
Katelin Winter.

Erin Fons finished 11th in the 200 breaststroke in 2:24.85 while junior
Katie Kaminski was 15th in 2:30.44 and junior
Alex King 16th in 2:34.96.

Grace Moffat was 14th in the 1,650 free in 18:23.76
Megan Gates was 15th in 18:41.02. Freshman
Lexie Bray was 14th in the 200 back in 2:13.07 while
Sami DuVal was 15th in 2:13.56.
MSUM will now await to see if any swimmers qualify for the national meet. The national qualification list will be announced by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27.
