The 1991 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field decathlon champion, Brad Swanson was a three-year letterwinner for the Dragons and still holds the school record for points in a decathlon with 7,147. Not only a champion for the Dragons, Swanson also competed on the U.S. Nationals team in 1994 through 1996. In 1996 he was ranked 10th in the Nation and 47th in the World in the decathlon after competing on the US national team that defeated Germany and set the five-man team decathlon world record, one that still stands at 40,670 points.
