MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons(6-9-1) hosted Minnesota State University Mankato Mavericks (11-3-1) in a NSIC matchup. The game was part of the last home stand for the Dragons.
The Mavericks looked to pull ahead early as a jump ball was put in the net but called back on an offsides call. The would pay off as Maverick Brianne West scored an unassisted goal to put the Mavericks ahead 1-0 (12:59). The Mavericks used their speed effectively to get behind the Dragon defense in route to an 8-0 victory. Mavericks got multiple goals from Kate Nielson and Gina Paletta.
With the win, the Mavericks improve to 12-3-1 on the season(8-3-1 NSIC). The Dragons fall to 6-10-1 on the season (3-9 NSIC) and will take on Southwest Minnesota State University Mustangs in their final home game of the season at 1 pm. The final home game will also be senior day where they will honor the six seniors leaving the team after the season.
