Warriors Take Win Over Dragons

MOORHEAD, Minn. - The Winona State Warriors moved their overall record to 13-5 with a 93-72 win over the Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons on Friday night at Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse.

The game was a story of two different halves as the Dragons hung with one of the top teams in the NSIC through out the first half, even taking a five point lead with 5:57 left in the half. Jake Driscoll had 17 of his 20 game points in the first half as he went 3-for-9 from the floor and nine of nine from the charity stripe.

The Warriors cut the Dragons lead to one with four minutes left in the first half, thus beginning a 14-5 run to go up by 10 right before intermission.

After shooting a hot 48 percent in the first half, the Warriors stepped it up in the later half of the game, shooting nearly 67 percent, going 16-of-24 from the field and 5-of-8 behind the three point line.

Dennis Williamson scored 13 of his career-high 21 points in the second half, he also grabbed five boards in the game. Alex Novak moved his season total blocks to 45 with three in the contest he also grabbed four rebounds.

Jon Walburg led the Warriors with 20 points. Three other athletes from WSU were in double figures.

The Warriors now have a mark of 7-4 in league play while the Dragons drop to 3-7.
