Dragon Dance Team Qualifies For Nationals At Highest Ranking In Team History

| By:
MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragon dance team has been selected to compete at the College Dance Championship of the Universal Dance Association on Jan. 13-17 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports at Disney World in Orlando, Fla. The team was notified when the Director of UDA called Head Coach Marissa Parmer on Nov. 5.

The team submitted their application video earlier this November in the 'Open' division among NCAA DII, NAIA, Junior College and Community College participants. In the pre-judging rounds of video entrance, the team was ranked sixth of 26 teams that entered the division.

While preparing for the event, the dance team will be fundraising for their trip to nationals, beginning with two key fundraisers in the coming weeks. The first will be Nov. 22 and the second will be Dec. 1. Both will take place at Pizza Ranch in Dilworth, where the dancer's will be bussing tables from 5-8 p.m. and receive 25 percent of all orders that come in and say “we are here because of the MSUM Dance Team.” The team will also receive a portion of the tips each night as well.

The team's fundraisers will be posted on their schedule as they are scheduled.
