DRAGONS FIRED UP FOR PHOENIX
The Dragons open their 2010-11 season with a long distance trip, playing their annual non-conference tournament out of state.  In 2009-10, the Dragons split two, non-conference tournament games over winter break in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and in the 2008-09 season they earned a pair of early season wins in Denver, Colorado.

The Dragons enter this season ranked fifth in the NSIC behind Concordia-St. Paul, Wayne State (Neb.), Augustana (S.D.) and Minnesota Duluth after last-year's 18-10 overall record.

With Betsy Dickson being the lone senior on the roster, the Dragon women's basketball team will need their younger talent to transition quickly to the higher level of competition in the NSIC.  Another key returner is last year's third leading scorer and rebounder Angie Jetvig who will share the captaincy with Dickson.  Jetvig averaged 11.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 26.6 minutes per game last season.  Also returning for the Dragon women are sharp-shooters Marisa Yernatich and Brittany Mayclin who shot a combined average of 42 percent from three-point range last season.

SOUTHERN INDIANA
Led by pre-season All-American senior Ellen Young, the Screaming Eagles from Southern Indiana beat Wayne State (Mich.) on Nov. 12 with a score of 81-71.  This victory marked seven straight wins for USI over WSC.  Young is the leader of the Screaming Eagles, but junior Kristin Raker led all scorers with 20 points in 30 minutes played.

QUEENS COLLEGE (N.Y.)
The Queens College Knights are coming off their first win of the season after dropping their first two contests by double digits.  In their win over Nyack (N.Y.), the Knights were led in scoring with 26 points from junior guard Amanda Bartlet, who also put up a career high 37 points in the loss to Pace University (N.Y.).
