Men's Basketball Face Cross-Town Rivals Tuesday, Dragons-Cobbers 7:30 p.m.

MOORHEAD, Minn. - The Minnesota State University Moorhead men's basketball team (2-0) will travel across the street to their cross town rival Concordia Cobbers (Minn.) on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. It will mark the first time in Head Coach Chad Walthall's career that he will face off against his alma mater.

THE DRAGONS
The Dragons opened the 2010-11 season with two wins, as they topped Dickinson State 81-68 in the season opener and took down Mayville State on the road, 77-73 on Friday.

In the season opener, Charlie Chapman led game with 20 points as he went 7-for-14 from the field, going 5-for-10 from the three-point line. Alex Novak had 16 points in the game, picking up a double-double with 11 rebounds. He also had three blocks, playing 33 minutes. Jake Driscoll had 11 points had five assist and two steals.

On Friday, all five starters led the team in scoring, tallying all but nine of the points for the Red and White. Driscoll led the Dragons with 16 points, going five-of-11 from the field with two three-pointers. Chapman had 15 points and Williamson had 14 points and nine boards. Novak picked up his second double-double of the season, with 13 points and 13 rebounds, going 6-for-8 from the field. Tarell Clark had 10 points.

THE CONCORDIA COBBERS
The Cobbers have split their first two games of the 2010-11 season, taking a last second loss to Minnesota Morris in the opener and most recently, putting up a 64-55 win over St. Scholastica on the road.

John Fraase is leading the Cobbers as he is averaging 18.0 pointsa nd 7.0 rebounds per game. Aaron Lindahl has tallied 17 point sthis seaon while Erik Lien has 15. Ryan Hagemayer has grabbed 10 rebounds for the Cobbers.

THE SERIES
The Dragons lead the all-time series 99-80. The Cobbers took the 2009 meeting on a last second shot 54-53.

LAST MEETING RECAP (at MSUM)
In the first half, the Dragons managed to gain the lead twice but neither squad jumped out to more than a two possession lead. After a quick Cobber run towards the end of the half, sophomore Andrew VanHavermaet made his first three point shot of the game to end the Cobbers momentum at halftime and the Dragons cut the lead down to three.

VanHavermaet stepped up in the second half, going 4-5 from beyond the arc in an effort to rally his team. After a jump shot by sophomore Jake Driscoll that tied the game with 7:33 left to play, the lead switched hands eight more times with no lead going past one possession. The Dragons took the lead on a pair of Driscoll free throws but a last second shot by Cobbers junior forward John Fraase gave the lead back to Concordia. The Cobbers would hold on after a jump ball with 1.3 seconds left.  The scoreboard final was 54-53.

UP NEXT
The Dragons will return to Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse on Sun., Nov. 28 to host Gustavus Adolphus at 4 p.m.
