THE DRAGONS SEASON RECAP
The Dragons opened the 2010-11 season with a split at the Crowne Plaza Tournament at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona this past weekend. They suffered a four point loss to Southern Indiana, a team receiving votes in the preseason Coaches Poll, and took a big win over Queens (N.Y.) on Saturday. On Saturday, the Dragons tied the single game record for three-pointers made with 14, as the team went 14-for-25 from long range. Marisa Yernatich and Angie Jetvig combined for 43 points in the game, and nine three pointers.

THE MAYVILLE STATE COMETS
The Comets have had a less than favorable start to the 2010-11 season as they have yet to come up with their first win. They opened the season with a loss to Viterbo (Wis.) at home and have since lost four straight. Most recently, they suffered a 93-70 loss to Minnesota Crookston at home.

This season, the team is led by Eli Cosme-Gonzales who is averaging 24.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. Hailey Longtin has also played big from the perimeter for the Comets as she averaged 14.0 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. Laura Taylor averages 10.8 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.

THE SERIES

The Dragons lead the all-time series 26-12, a series that dates back to the 1970-71 season. MSUM has taken all five games against Mayville State that have been played under Head Coach Karla Nelson.

LAST MEETING RECAP
Sophomore Angie Jetvig scored a career-high 21 points in the last meeting between the two teams as the Dragons topped the Comets, 97-46 on Nov. 28, 2009.

Four of the Dragons scored in double-figures with Jetvig leading the team, while the team's leading scorer, Alison Nash-Gerlach scored ten. Kaycee Charette and Mara Paulson came off the bench to score 14 and 12, respectively. In the game, 43 of the team's 97 was scored by non-starters.

The Dragons led by as much as 23 in the first half and were up by 16 at the buzzer, 37-21. In the second half, the Dragons scored 60 points, the highest amount of points scored by the team in a single half this season. Twenty of those points came off of Comet turnovers.
