Dragons Volleyball to Host Beavers and Bulldogs

MOORHEAD, Minn. - The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons will host Bemidji State and Minnesota Duluth in a conference weekend of matches at Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse on Friday and Saturday, respectively. The Dragons and Beavers will start at 7 p.m., with the Bulldogs coming to town for a 4 p.m. match on Saturday.

DRAGON RECAP
The Dragons (5-4, 1-0 NSIC) moved their record to above .500 on Tuesday as they opened the 2010 conference season against Minnesota-Crookston at home. MSUM topped UMC in four sets.

Senior Laura Tvrdik (Farwell, Minn.) led the team with 13 kills on the night, she also had three assists and two digs. Feldman finished the evening with 11 kills while Lensing had 10. Running a 6-2 offense, Leigh Splittstoesser (Stewartville, Minn.) and Anna Olson (Apple Valley, Minn.) split the set-ups as they had 31 and 20 assists, respectively, in the match. Katy Ness (Ada, Minn.) had 28 digs to lead the Dragon defense.

This season, the Dragons are being led by Lensing on the attack, as she has registered102 kills with 3.19 per set. Leigh Splittstoesser has 240 assists and 10 service aces to lead the team. Katy Ness has 153 digs for the Dragons defense, as Kayla Handevidt has led the defense at the net with 26 blocks.

Bemidji State Beavers
The Beavers (7-2, 1-0 NSIC) opened up their conference slate with a 3-0/25-17, 25-17, 25-20) victory over the University of Mary in their home opener on Tuesday. With the victory the Beavers improve to 7-2/1-0 NSIC) on the season.

Lindsay Weyer is leading BSU with 103 kills on the year, averaging 3.32 per set. Jessi-Beth McCannell is setting-up the Beavers for their 702 record as she has dished up 343 assists this season. Their defense is led by Brie Groskreutz with 162 digs.

Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs

The undefeated Bulldogs (9-0, 1-0 NSIC) opened their 2010 conference season with a win at home against Northern State, 3-1, on Tuesday. The Bulldogs had three players in double-digits for kills in the match.

This season the Bulldogs are lead by April Hanson who has 100 kills, averaging 3.23 per set. She has primarily been set up by Eleena Tisakka who has 363 assists. On dfense the team is led by libero Allison Fanta with 156 digs.
