ST. CLOUD, Minn. - Four long sets were a battle for the Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons volleyball team on Friday evening as the St. Cloud State Huskies came out of the match with the victory, 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-16, 25-22).
St. Cloud, under first year head coach, was an improved team as they put up a big fight against a Dragon team that had topped them in both appearances in 2009.
The Huskies hit just twenty points above the Dragons in the contest, with SCSU hitting .178 to the MSUM's .158. The Dragons had two players in double digits in kills, with
Heidi Lensing leading the team with 11 and
Laura Tvrdik had 10. SCSU's Erica Beacom was the only Husky in double figures with 13 kills.
The Dragons will play again when they face reigning National Champions, Concordia St. Paul on Saturday at 4 p.m. in St. Paul.
