Dragon Volleyball Completes Four-Game Road Trip This Weekend

MOORHEAD, Minn. - The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons will travel to Marshall and Mankato, Minn., this weekend to face the No. 2 Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs and No. 13 Minnesota State Mankato Mavericks in conference matches that will end a four-game road trip for the Red and White.

The match against SMSU will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, while the Dragons will face the Mavericks at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

DRAGON RECAP
The Dragons (5-7, 2-3 NSIC) suffered two losses in conference play last weekend on the road. The St. Cloud State Huskies and reigning national champions, Concordia St. Paul pushed the Dragons record below .500.

The Huskies hit just twenty points above the Dragons in the four-set contest, with SCSU hitting .178 to the MSUM's .158. The Dragons had two players in double digits in kills, with Heidi Lensing leading the team with 11 and Laura Tvrdik had 10.

The Golden Bears hit a hot .396 last Saturday, with three players tallying double figures in kills. The Dragons could not match the attack from their opponents as they hit just .146 in the game with 31 total team kills. Tvrdik had 11 kills in the match and Lensing had eight.

TOP CONFERENCE

The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference boasts four of the top-six nationally ranked teams, with one other in the top-15. The Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs are ranked first in the nation as they have gone undefeated, a perfect 14-0. Wayne State (Neb.) is ranked second overall, also undefeated, they are currently 13-0 on the year. SMSU, previously ranked fourth in the nation, moved up to third this week in the AVCA rankings as they are 11-2 overall. CU Golden Bears are ranked No. 6 in the nation (10-3) with Mankato wrapping up the ranked teams at 13th overall with a 10-3 record.
