
FAYETTE, Iowa – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team allowed only one point in the final three minutes of the game to complete the comeback over the Upper Iowa Peacocks 69-63 Friday night and advance to 6-4 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play.

Haley Thomforde would hit the opening basket of the game, but the Peacocks would respond with a Jeri Jacobson three-pointer and a Chelsea Arndt jumper to take a 5-2 lead at the 17:27 mark.
The Dragons would battle back to take a three-point lead after a free throw from
Jenna Van Dyke, 10-7, but the Peacocks would answer on the next possession with a Heidi McKean three to force a 10-10 tie with 14:48 left in the half.
McKean's three would kick-start an 11-0 Peacock run to take an 18-10 lead with 13:10 to go in the first half.
Morgan Zabel would check in and score the next five points for the Dragons to cut the Peacock lead to five, 20-15.
The Peacocks would make another push at the 8:20 mark to take their biggest lead of the game, 30-19, after a Cassandra Deiters layup, capping a 6-0 Upper Iowa run.
The Dragons would respond with an 8-0 run of their own to cut the Peacock lead to three with 4:46 left in the half.
The Peacock lead would eventually get cut down to one with 1:42 left in the half after an
Angie Jetvig jumper, but Upper Iowa would finish the half strong as Lyndsay Westgaard hit a layup as time expired to take a 40-34 lead at the halfway mark.
The Dragons would start the second half with a 7-2 run to cut the Peacock lead back down to one with 17:12 remaining.
The Peacock lead would still be one point with 3:16 left in the game until
Abby Reiter hit both shots of a one-and-one to give the Dragons their first lead of the second half.
The Peacocks would take another one-point lead at the three-minute mark, but Jetvig would record two of her four blocks on back-to-back possessions and add two free throws to give the Dragons a one-point lead with 2:42 remaining, 63-62.
Jetvig's free throws started an 8-1 Dragon run to end the game and record a 69-63 victory in Fayette, Iowa.
The Dragons were lead by Jetvig in points with 21, rebounds with 12 and blocks with 4. Jetvig's 21 points tied her point total from her last two contests combined, and jumps her league-leading scoring average up to 18.1 points per game.
Marisa Yernatich finished the game with 10 points and Zabel would finish with nine points.
The win moves the Dragon women to 6-4 in NSIC play and 9-5 overall.
The Dragons will travel to play the Winona State Warriors Saturday night, tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
