Comeback Falls Short as Golden Bears Top Dragons, 76-64

MOORHEAD, Minn. - A strong second half for the Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragon women's basketball team fell short of coming all the way back from a first half deficit as the home team suffered their seventh loss of the season, 76-64, to the Concordia, St. Paul Golden Bears on Friday at Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse.

The Dragons could not match the Golden Bears hot shooting the in the first half as the visitors hit 18-of-31 shots (58 percent) while the hosts' knocked down just nine buckets (of 31 attempts) to shoot just 31 percent. CU went into halftime leading 43-20.

MSUM began to warm up late in the second half as they cut the lead to ten with just under three minutes left to play but key offensive rebounds in the final two minutes carried the Golden Bears to the win. The Golden Bears pulled down 32 rebounds in teh game, while the Dragons, who are averaging 11.1 rebounds more than their opponents this season grabbed 33.

The Dragons improved their shoting the second half as they shot 40 percent, and 67 percent from long range. Angie Jetvig led the Dragons iwth 15 points, while two of her teammates joined her in double figures (Brittany Mayclin, 13 and Megan Strese, 10). Jetvig grabbed seven boards, all coming on defense.

The Golden Bears' Jineen William sled the field with 21 points, while both Shandrell Duncan and Rachel Hansen each had 11 points.

MSU Moorhead will return to the court on Saturday at 6 p.m. as they host the St. Cloud State Huskies at 6 p.m.
