Dragon Basketball On MidCo Sports Network as They Host Golden Eagles Saturday

MOORHEAD, Minn. – For the third time this season, the Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragon basketball team's will be featured on MidCo Sports Network as the team's host Minnesota Crookston on Saturday, Jan. 29. The women's game is scheduled to tip-off at 6 p.m. with the men's game to follow.

The Dragons will be featured on channel 26 or 27 thorughout the region on Midcontinent cable services. They were last featured on both Jan. 8 and 9 at Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse.

DRAGON WOMEN
The Dragons are having a rough patch in the 2010-11 schedule, after winning six straight (at the begining of the season), the team has lost it's last three games.  The team is 9-8 overall and 6-7 in the NSIC, tied with U-Mary and St. Cloud State in eighth place in the league.

This weekend, the Dragons will host Minnesota Crookston in a single conference contest, it will be the first time this season the Dragons will play a team for the second time. The two team's last saw each other on Dec. 11, as the Dragons picked up a 64-62 win on the road.

MSUM trailed nearly the entire game on Dec 11, but took the lead with a few minutes remaining before Marisa Yernatich hit a three-pointer to put the team up for good. A series of missed free throws by the Golden Eagles capped the Dragons win.

Last weekend, Angie Jetvig scored a career-high 27 points and had 15 rebounds against St. Cloud State on Saturday. She continues to lead the league in scoring, averaging 18.5 points per game.

DRAGON MEN
The Dragons took a 67-60 victory in December over the Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles. Dennis Williamson had 19 points to lead the Dragons, picking up his third double-double of the season. Jake Driscoll and Tarell Clark had 15 points each in the win.

MSUM is coming off of a split weekend, as they topped Concordia St. Paul last Friday and fell to St. Cloud State on Saturday. The Dragons sit in seven th place in the league as they have an 7-6 league record.

Clark ranks 23rd in the league for scoring, as he leads the team with 12.9 points per game. Alex Novak continues to dominate the boards as the leads the NSIC with 10.6 rebounds per game. The number ranks him 10th in the nation for rebounds per game, and he also appears in national standings in blocks per game with 1.9, ranking 34th.

MINNESOTA CROOKSTON GOLDEN EAGLES
The Golden Eagle women's basketball team has won three of their last four games, winning two on the road before topping St. Cloud State by 25 points last weekend.

In their win over St. Cloud, four Golden Eagles put up 17 points or more, as Bri Zabel tallied 18 to lead her team to their fifth win in league play. Zabel complimented her game leading points with 10 rebounds, the most of any player in the game. Megan Eul, Brittani Wiese and Jamie Zelinsky each tallied 17 points.

Zelinsky leads the team as she averages 15.5 points per game, while Laurie Tyson is grabbing an average of 6.5 rebounds. Wiese is orchestrating the plays for the Golden Eagles from point as she has 2.41 assists per game.

The Golden Eagle men have had one win in 2011, which was an overtime win against Upper Iowa on the road. They have since suffered two losses to Concordia-St. Paul and St. Cloud State.

Their team is lead by Eric Dearden as he averages 14.1 points per game. Larry Brown is averaging 4.6 rebounds per game as he leads the team on the boards. Almir Krdzalic is seventh in the league in assists as he averages 3.94 per game.

THE SERIES
The Dragon women and men both lead their all-time series over the Golden Eagles, with the women ahead 24-2 to their opponent and the men up 24-8. The last times the team's faced was Dec. 11, 2010, at Crookston where the Dragons swept the double header.
