Marauders Upend Dragons, 72-57

MOORHEAD, Minn. – The University of Mary Marauders out played the Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragon men's basketball team in the final ten minutes of the game on Saturday afternoon as the visitors came away with the win, 72-57.

MSU Moorhead moves to 7-5 overall and 4-4 in the league. U-Mary now sits at 5-4 in the NSIC and are 9-4 overall.

The Dragons took an early 14-7 lead on two threes and two jumpers by different MSUM starters. The Marauders chpieed their way back into the game as they caught up at the 10:47 mark in the first half, tying the game at 19.

The Dragons continued to take the charge but U-Mary came back to tie with four minutes left in the first half, taking the lead with just over two minutes and holding on to it for the rest of the game.

After going into halftime, leading 38-37, the Marauders broke free of the Dragons early in the second half, managing to go up by eight with 11:51.

The Dragons cut the lead to three on back to back shots, a three-pointer by Charlie Chapman and a jumper by Tarell Clark, with 7:17 left in the game.

The spark was not enough to eclipse the Marauder lead as Anthony Moody put up a long range shot on the next trip down the court, to give his team a jump on a 13-1 run. Moody led all scorers with 27 points as teammate Eric Erdman had 15.

MSUM was led by Clark with 14 points and 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. He also had four assists. Chapman finished with 13 points while DJ Hamilton had 10.

The Dragons will be on the court again on Sunday at 4 p.m. when they host Northern State at Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse. The game will be aired live on MidCo Sports Network, channel 26 in the Fargo-Moorhead area on Midcontinent cable service.
