MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragon volleyball team continues play at Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse this weekend as they host the Warriors of Winona State University at 7 p.m. on Friday and the Peacocks of Upper Iowa University at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Last season the ladies split with both teams losing 1-3 on the road to both the Warriors and the Peacocks on Oct. 29, 2010 and Oct. 30, 2010. Back in Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse the Dragons defeated the Warriors 3-1 on Nov. 12, 2010 and the Peacocks 3-2 on Nov. 13, 2010.
The Winona State University Warriors (13-10, 7-7 NSIC) are ranked 7th in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and the Upper Iowa University Peacocks (13-11, 6-8 NSIC) are currently 9th in the NSIC.
In the polls released this week the Dragons are first in the NSIC and jumped from fifth to third in the nation for digs in a set with 19.23 per game. Individually defensive specialist
Katy Ness is ranked second in the NSIC and 12th in the nation for digs per set with 5.61.
The MSU Moorhead Dragons (10-10, 8-5 NSIC) are sitting 5th in the NSIC behind nationally ranked No. 2 Minnesota Duluth, No. 4 Concordia-St. Paul, No. 9 Southwest Minnesota St. and No. 13 Wayne State.
