MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragon volleyball team defeated the Warriors of Winona State University tonight in Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse 3-0 (25-17, 27-25, 25-22).
After taking the first set, the team fell behind in the second. With a score of 24-20 in favor of the Warriors, junior setter
Anna Olson went up for a solo block and stuffed the warriors giving the Dragons a 27-25 victory.
Olson was named tonight's Papa John's Player of the Game with 35 assists, seven digs, one solo block and one block assist. Junior libero
Katy Ness continued to prove her worth in the back row as she posted 25 digs and two services aces.
Other key contributors were freshman middle blocker
Maggie Gruber with 10 kills, four block assists, one solo block and one service ace, and junior outside hitter
Heidi Lensing hustled after 10 digs, put down nine kills and teamed up for two block assists.
The Dragons now 11-10 and 9-5 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference return to the court tomorrow at 4 p.m. as they host the Peacocks of Upper Iowa.
