Box Score MOORHEAD, Minn. - University of Mary staged stunning opening
and closing acts to highlight a sparkling performance in a 52-13
Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference victory over Minnesota State
University Moorhead in a Saturday matinee at Alex Nemzek Stadium in
Moorhead.

The Marauders struck quickly, crisply moving 80 yards on 12 plays,
including a 20-yard touchdown pass from Craig Bagnell to Tyler Steffan,
to secure a quick 7-0 lead. Steffan followed with two more touchdown
receptions of 24 and 1 yard to help the Marauders expand their lead to
21-0. Despite the Marauders' early passing mastery, the pesky Dragons
would not go away, and a 14-yard touchdown pass from Kevin Koch to
Kendall Hendon brought MSUM with 21-13 at halftime.

At the outset of the second half, MSU Moorhead patiently marched 80
yards on 14 plays and and narrowed the gap to 21-13 with a 10-yard
touchdown pass from Koch to Brandon Schell. Sadly, the good times didn't
last long for the Dragons.

Mary promptly responded with a 72-yard scoring drive and a 1-yard
touchdown run by Josh Murray, and Murray would shatter the Dragon
defense later in the third period with back-to-back scoring romps of 48
and 65 yards. The Marauders seized control in the second half and scored
the final 31 points of the game.

The Marauders' award-winning three-pronged offensive cast of Bagnell,
Murray and Steffan stepped to center state and dominated the sixth
meeting between the Battle for the Paddle rivals. Bagnell completed 24
of 35 passes for 319 yards and four touchdowns, Murray rushed for 216
yards and three touchdowns on just 16 carries and average of a whopping
13.5 yards a rush, while Steffan turned nine pass receptions into 123
yards and four touchdowns, hiking his remarkable harvest to 11 TD
catches in the last three games.

In all, Mary piled up 683 yards of total offense against 259 for the
Dragons. Koch rushed for a club high 43 yards for the Dragons and
completed 22 of 44 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns. Hendon was
the Dragons' primary receiving selection with nine catches for 84 yards
and a touchdown.

MSU Moorhead fell to 2-7 overall and 1-7 in the NSIC while the victory
hiked Mary's overall record to 5-4 and their league mark to 4-4.

The Dragons welcome the Huskies of St. Cloud State at 1 p.m. next Saturday.
