Volleyball Gets Rematch With Southwest Minnesota State Tonight

MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragon volleyball team is on the road tonight as they rematch with No. 9 Southwest Minnesota State University Mustangs in Marshall, Minn. at 7 p.m.

Both teams met earlier this season on Sept. 30 where the Mustangs took the match 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-17).  Southwest State (18-6, 12-3 NSIC) currently on a four game winning streak is ranked No. 3 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and No. 9 in the nation.

Tonight's game will be a battle but the Dragons strong defense will be a key factor in their play. The team continues to hold their No. 1 spot in the NSIC for digs per set with an average of 19.62. In the latest NCAA polls the Dragons moved from No. 3 to No. 2 in the nation for digs per set.

Junior libero Katy Ness will the lead the Dragon defense. This week she was named the NSIC Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season. With 446 digs on the season and an average of 5.79 digs per set she is ranked No. 2 in the NSIC and No. 11 in the nation.  

After tonight's game, the Dragons (11-11, 9-6 NSIC) will return to Moorhead to host Bemidji State University the University of Minnesota, Duluth for their final home weekend of the season.
