MOORHEAD, Minn. – The rivalry continues as the Cobbers of Concordia College trek across 8th street to Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse to battle with the Dragon men's basketball team on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m.
The Dragons (2-0) come into this never-ending bout on a two-game winning streak after defeating the Comets of Mayville State University 71-45 on Saturday, Nov. 19.
The Dragons outscored the Comets 41-21 in the first half, and set the tone for the rest of the game. Hitting 8-of-17 three pointers as a team, the Dragons' offense commanded the floor with skill and poise.
Senior guard
Charlie Chapman led the attack for the Dragons' big first half as he hit four three pointers, giving the dragons a 13 point lead. Chapman led all MSUM scorers with a total of 14 points.
Other key players for the Dragons were junior forward
Jake Lindfors who posted 12 points and nine rebounds for the team, and senior guard
Jake Driscoll who followed behind Lindfors with 10 points.
The Cobbers are 1-0 after completing only one regular season game on Thursday, Nov. 17 against the University of Minnesota – Morris. Concordia took the game 66-44.
Juniors Ebo Nana-Kweson, Brandon Fisher and Jason Huus. Nana- Kweson, a 6-4 guard, led all scorers with 15 points, four rebounds and three blocks. Fisher, a 6-4 forward followed closely behind Nana-Kweson with 14 points and six rebounds.
Huus a 6-10 center will be the Dragons biggest challenge. He hit 6-of-7 shots from the field giving him a shooting percentage of 86% and 12 total points. He also pulled down 10 big rebounds for Cobbers.
The Cobbers faced off in one exhibition game this season on Nov. 5. The team battled the North Dakota State University Bison but lost the match up 90-48.
The rivalry between the two schools dates back far into Dragon athletics history. Since 2000, the Dragons have gone 8-2 in the annual match up against the Cobbers.
