MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragon men's basketball team continued their win streak tonight as they defeated the University of Minnesota Duluth 85-67.

Junior forward Alex Novak started the night off for the Dragons with a quick jumper off a Jordan Riewer rebound. DJ Hamilton quickly made the score 4-0 after pulling down a rebound, going coast-to-coast and rolling in a layup.

After seven minutes of play the Dragons had their smallest lead of the night with a score of 13-11. However, this is just what senior standout DJ Hamilton needed. After he hit back to back three's, the Dragons never looked back as their lead continued to grow with every possession.

At the half, the Dragons led by 19 after Hamilton hit yet again another three making the score 47-28.

At the start of the second half, the Dragons continued their impressive three-point shooting as Jake Lindfors drained a three off a Charlie Chapman assist.

The Bulldogs went on a short 11-7 run after the Lindfors three-pointer to make the score 59-39. But they were soon silenced after Alex Novak slammed one home.

The Dragons continued their impressive play as they kept a constant 20-point lead for the rest of the game.

MSU Moorhead's sharp shooting continued to shine as they hit 12 of 23 or 52% of their three-point shots. On the season the Dragons have hit 52% of their three-pointers and are averaging 11.2 per game.

Hamilton, tonight's Paper John's Player of the Game, led the Dragons with a career high 28 points. He hit 8 of 13 field goals, going 5 of 8 from three-point land. He also shot 100% from the charity stripe as he hit 7 of 7. This weekend, in the first three halves of play, Hamilton hit 17 out of 21 of his shots for a field goal percentage of 81%.

Other key contributors for the Dragons were junior forward Jake Lindfors with a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds and junior forward Alex Novak added 14 points and nine rebounds. Freshman guard Jordan Riewer also chipped in 11 points and two assists.

Steve d'Eustachio stat of the game: The last time the Dragons started a season 5-0 was during the 2005-2006. Their first loss was against Duluth at home six years ago tonight.

The Dragons next action will be on Wednesday, Dec. 7 against Minot State University at 8 p.m.
